The Very Hungry Caterpillar book if available or watch the Youtube video

Ask your child simple questions pertaining to the story.

Turn to any page and ask your child what they think is happening here?

Simplify your questions if they are finding it a challenge to answer your questions. The aim is to develop language skills and not so much on getting ‘correct’ answers.

How can you work with your child?

Make yourself and your child comfortable and show them the Youtube version of The Very Hungry Caterpillar. Use the book if you have it. Or show your child both.

Read through each page pointing to the illustrations where necessary to ensure child is following the story.

Day 3: Recalling and matching Skills 回顾和匹配能力

Print out the image below with A4 paper. 用A4纸将以下图画印出来。
How can you work with your child?
您可以和孩子一起做什么呢？
Cut the images on the printed paper into 16 pieces.
将打印出来的图画剪成16片图案。
Revisit the book again with your child.
和您的孩子一起阅读《好饿的毛毛虫》绘本。
Pay more attention to the different items the caterpillar ate. Match them to the cut out you have prepared.

Retell the story again and invite your child to match the items accordingly. Pause the video when necessary.

Prepare the paper as mentioned in the material column and secure the paper on the ground with tape.

Leave some crayons on the paper，invite your child to sit on the paper and doodle away.

Provide many mark making opportunities throughout the day.
When children are making these early marks, they are practicing to hold a pencil and are attempting to control their marks with their muscles. This enhances their physical development by improving their fine motor skills and helps to develop their hand-eye coordination.

Day 5: Banana Caterpillar Snack 香蕉毛毛虫

How can you work with your child?

Invite your child to peel and use the butter knife (consider safety) to slice each banana into 10 segments. Count together with your child as they slice the banana. Model what must be done throughout.
邀请您的孩子剥开香蕉并用牛油刀将香蕉切成10段（用刀时需注意安全）。在切的过程中，和孩子一起从一数到十。若有必要，示范给孩子看。
Assemble "caterpillar" by spreading segments with butter/jam and pressing pieces together.

Use butter/jam to press the raisins on one end as the ‘eye’.
