Simplify your questions if they are finding it a challenge to answer your questions. The aim is to develop language skills and not so much on getting ‘correct’ answers.

Make yourself and your child comfortable and show them the Youtube version of The Very Hungry Caterpillar. Use the book if you have it. Or show your child both.

Provide many mark making opportunities throughout the day.
When children are making these early marks, they are practicing to hold a pencil and are attempting to control their marks with their muscles. This enhances their physical development by improving their fine motor skills and helps to develop their hand-eye coordination.

Invite your child to peel and use the butter knife (consider safety) to slice each banana into 10 segments. Count together with your child as they slice the banana. Model what must be done throughout.

Assemble "caterpillar" by spreading segments with butter/jam and pressing pieces together.
