Introduction:Our goal is to aim toward benefiting children currently enrolled at Chatfield Elementary that have social and behavioral obstacles to overcome. By raising money during our fundraiser we will be able to supply the appropriate counseling department the needs to better equip these children when discussing their social and emotional needs. Unfortunately children enrolled in the school have issues at home that ultimately affect their ability at school. By doing this project we hope to accomplish helping to aid these children on a personal level and ultimately being apart of their recovery over these issues. Main points that we hope to accomplish is to help support these kids in developing certain coping strategies such as; self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, relationship skills, and responsible decision making.
By catching these children at a young age you can give them the necessary tools to help them develop life skills that they an use at a later date in their life's that they might not have been exposed to before.
Weston defines ethics in the book as taking care for the basic needs and legitimate expectations of others and our own. Whereas Lakoff simply puts it as Human well being. Our project relates to both of these definitions given by Weston and Lakoff by providing information to the community to help support this cause of reaching out to children that are in need of social and emotional support.
In hoping to accomplish this project we hope to demonstrate an ethical value of happiness for the individual/s, to support their personal ethics by being in fairness, justice equality and human civil rights. The value of being able to help with relationships is an important ethical value that our project hopefully will demonstrate. Having the end goal in mind the student will be comfortable in approaching and talking with teachers and counselors. There by, they will be comfortable in reaching out to others around them for support.
As a group it is important to us and hopefully to the community to address these issues that some of the children in our community do deal with social and emotional issues and making them aware of this present issue. By catching this at an early age we can turn this around and give them a better chance in having a healthy emotional and social life ahead of them.
