Interviewee: No, my first job was coaching a high school cheer team. I started as a substitute at my current job and they let me know they were looking to hire for my position as kindergarten teacher so I put my application in and did the interview and got the job. As a substitute for the school district, you meet a lot of other teachers and principals who let you know what schools are looking for a teacher.
Interviewer: How do you search jobs? Do you think that networking is important for finding the job?
Interviewee: Before I became a sub for the district I would go on edjoin.org to look for current positions. Networking is very important. I met a lot of people while I was in the credential program. Meeting all those people helped me find my current job.

Interviewee: I had a portfolio of all the lesson plans and observations I had done during the credential program.
Interviewer: What skills do you think must be mastered in applying for a teacher position?
Interviewee: The portfolio is a very important tool to have when you are looking for a teaching position.
Interviewer: Do you have any suggestions for students who need to apply for a teacher position?
Interviewee: Create and maintain a portfolio to take with you to interviews. Principals are interested in seeing what you have done while you were working on becoming a teacher.

Interviewee: This is not my first job. This is actually my second job overall, but my first job towards my career. To find this job I went to many education career fairs and applied to many different districts through Edjoin.com.

Interviewee: In the field of teaching, networking is a big deal. A good word from someone in the district you applying for or knowing someone who works in the same field can put you ahead of other candidates.
Interviewer: What skills do you think must be mastered in applying for a teacher position?
Interviewee: Communication and knowledge in how a 21-century classroom consists of. A teacher who lacks in communication will not be able to manage a classroom or teach content to the students. Also, a teacher who is unable to be flexible and enhance their teaching style to the evolving technology of this age will not be able to relate to their students or teach the content in the best way possible.
Interviewer: Do you have any suggestions for students who need to apply for a teacher position?
Interviewee: My suggestion would be to really talk to teachers in the field and network. Also, I would suggest getting rid of the notion that all they will be doing is teaching. Teachers deal with more than the student.

Interviewee: My current job is my first job in the United States. I approached the ATI for an opportunity of web-design internship in order to complete the required hours for my ETEC 692 internship. In ETEC 692, Dr. Leh kindly provided several sources of internship. Handshake and indeed (both are job hunting website) also list many chances of internship as well. After I check the information that provided by Dr. Leh, Handshake, and Indeed, I targeted the web-design internship at ATI. I spent approximately one month to completed total 80 hours internship for ETEC 692 requirement and ATI decided to hire me after that.

Interviewee: I was doing the job hunting with Handshake and Indeed. Also, check the information that provided by professors, they are very helpful.
Yes, the networking is important for job hunting. Networking allow us to set up the filter and arrange the order of the job list, which means it can organize the job list and make you do the job hunting effectively.

Interviewee: I will understand the company or department in rigor. In addition, I will focus on what are the main duty of the job that I apply for. Also, I normally prepare a specific question no matter what position I apply for: “What benefit can I bring for this company (department)?”

Interviewee: To me, there is no specific skill that you must be mastered when you apply for the instructional designer position. I think you need to be able to use some basic instructional design model proficiently. Additionally, the most important skill is the communication skill.
Interviewer: Do you have any suggestions for students who want to apply for Instructional Designer position?
Interviewee: Buy a nice suit and give it a try.
