Shopping is a major part of mobile phone use. With options like Apple and Google pay, and the ease in which one can save a credit card in their mobile browser, it has become extremely easy to make purchases on a mobile device. Many ads located in various social media platforms are also aimed at mobile purchasing; simply click on the ad, and purchase the product with a few taps of your device.Â
With this in mind, many people are showing much more interest in making ethically sound shopping choices (Wiederhold & Martinez, 2018). Although intentions may be good, it can be quite challenging to actually navigate websites that use ethics as a form of advertising (e.g., this pair of shoes was made with 30% recycled plastic). This assignment will focus on the website Good on You, and the movement based in making ethical shopping choices more clear for consumers. It will also aim to challenge users understanding of ethical shopping, and ways in which they may actually make a bigger impact.
