The Problem: K-12 students and their families are keen to develop foundational reading, writing, and math skills, but teachers' time is divided between many students; this delays feedback and support, which causes a lag in learning.
The Solution: My proposal is to create a diagnostic survey platform (Fig. 1) that uses competency-based assessments and machine learning to provide appropriate feedback for students while also linking them with skill-specific resources suited to their current level of proficiency. Furthermore, the Tech Tutor will connect parents with links to local tutors and educators that can help support their child's learning journey wherever they are, whether it be addressing gaps in foundational skills or extending learning beyond their curriculum.
