Founder's Story
Founder's Story
The lightboard was conceptualized and created by Northwestern University engineering professor Michael Peshkin. Dr. Peshkin’s was motivated to create a presentation tool that enhanced his lecture videos where he predominantly used a chalkboard to relay information. After envisioning the lightboard, Dr. Pesheskin created an open source style website to share the details of his idea openly with others around the world.
Kevin Koch, a Northwestern engineering alum and former student of Dr. Peshkin’s read an article about the first lightboard in a newsletter and reached out to see if he could support the effort in some way. Together they created a refined and shippable product while maintaining their commitment to the open-source origins of the lightboard.
