BCT recognizes education as the great equalizer. It bridges the gap between learning and work and enhances personal data agency by securing learner ownership and credentials through "secure and transparent platforms for tracking and verifying students' academic achievements...making it easier for students to showcase their skills and knowledge to potential employers" (Koshiry, et al, 2023). BCT also solves educational credibility problem (fraud, intermediaries, incompetencies) in an era of crisis of legitimacy. Perhaps most importantly, BCT has been shown to "improve the lifelong learning system and accelerate the construction of a learning society" (Tang, et al, p. 126, 2024).  The automatically advances frontier of education and reshapes space while maintaining sustainability. This transparent and secure data sharing is required to enable global learning because it saves money, time, teacher energy, and ensures standardization towards the development of a smart, strong, safe, educated, just, ecologically-sound society of the future.
Blockchain Technology is a student-centered way of funding, financial aid, fraud prevention, record keeping, RFID tags (radio frequency identity cards), credentialing and certification. Also, by providing governance and digital architecture the administrative process can be streamlined and "improve overall trust and reliability of educational credentials" (Rani & Priya, p. 2471, 2023). "Blockchain is mainly used to facilitate online testing and learning, education data mining and analytics, resource sharing, educational record verification and authentication, data management and storing, administration management, education/discipline of children, and college crowd funding" (Tatnall, p. 3634, 2023).
In addition to automated, data-driven marking, it can also drive assessment and focus on formative assessment which has traditionally been undervalued. BCT can encourage and recognize more formative assessment, which is key for reaching learning outcomes. "to establish a sound organizational structure to provide reliable organization support for the recognition of learning outcomes" (Tang, et al, p. 126, 2024). BCT can steer curriculum design. "scoring model of curriculum review is constructed to objectively evaluate students' learning ability" (Yu & Zou, p. 287, 2023). BCT can integrate gamification schemes to make learning more enjoyable and effective. BCT can be used as a teacher reference, teacher materials, teacher evaluation, student lifelong learning achievements.

Unwittingly, educators may be the biggest online content creators. Teachers can also be incentivized to participate on the blockchain as content creators and tokenize creations as owners of digital assets stored on blockchain. This will reduce piracy, compensate teachers for efforts, honor copywrite, deter plagiarism, validate intellectual property, produce increased quality materials and possibly even allocate royalties for fair use and ethical content consumption.
Students can pay using educational tokens. Engaging with non fungible tokens (NFTs), intellectual property can be protected and trust can be restored.
Repository of OERs. Learning platform that sits at the intersection of human intelligence, AI and OERs. Learning materials can be coded with metadata to discover which is most relevant.
A decentralized university leverages BCT to create a transparent, secure, and accessible education system. It enables verifiable credentialing, decentralized governance, and peer-to-peer learning. Students have control over their academic records, which are securely stored on the blockchain. SCs automate administrative processes, reducing bureaucracy. The decentralized university aims to democratize education, ensuring equal access and recognition for learners worldwide.
One of the challenges preventing BCT from becoming more widely applied in the realm of education is that teachers are not qualified or trained. Do your future teaching self a favor and get onboard and educate yourself with some of the below opportunities! Feel free to pass these resources onto interested colleagues and friends. The more the merrier!
