Securly was founded in 2012 by CEO Bharath Madhusudan and Vinay Mahadik. Mahadik came from an online security background as a former senior R&D manager at McAfee. He and his co-worker Madhusudan found their way to the education technology sector due to their desire to create something meaningful & impactful for an area that was underserved in the security area. They wanted to use their backgrounds in security to explore and design the answer to keeping students safe online. The first iteration of Securly focused on blocking inappropriate content on students' computers. Over the next several years they added to the growing suite of online safety solutions.
