Esubalew Alemneh earned his Ph.D. in Computer Science from Université Bourgogne-Franche-Comté in 2019. He received his MSc in Computer Science, specializing in Software Engineering, from Universiti Putra Malaysia in 2009, and completed his BSc in Computer Science at Addis Ababa University in 2005.
Since August 2005, he has accumulated extensive experience in teaching, research, software development, and academic administration. He served as a Graduate Assistant from August 2005 to June 2009, as a Lecturer from June 2009 to May 2017, and as an Assistant Professor at Bahir Dar University from May 2017 to February 2025. In March 2025, he was promoted to Associate Professor in Software Engineering. Throughout his academic career, he has participated in numerous research projects and taught a wide range of undergraduate and graduate courses.
In addition to his teaching and research responsibilities, he served as Director of the Technology Teaching–Learning Process at the ICT Directorate of Bahir Dar University and as Course Chair Holder of the System Development Course Chair at the Faculty of Computing, Bahir Dar Institute of Technology. From January 2020 to March 2026, he also served as Director of the ICT4D Research Center at the same institute.
Esubalew has extensive experience in software development and consultancy. He has contributed to the design and development of numerous web-based applications and dynamic websites. His major projects include: (i) the Lease Holding Information Management System for the Ministry of Urban Development, Housing and Construction under the Federal Integrated Urban Land Information Project Office; (ii) the Integrated Market Information System for the Amhara National Regional State Trade Bureau; (iii) the Local Economic Development Information Management System for Bahir Dar City Administration; and (iv) the Property Administration System for Bahir Dar University. He has also provided consultancy services for the development of an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system for the Amhara Water Works Construction Enterprise.
His research interests include software engineering, ICT for development (ICT4D), information systems, and emerging technologies. He has published research papers in several reputable journals and international conferences and has served as an invited reviewer for various journals and conferences, including IEEE Access, IEEE Consumer Communications and Networking Conference, International Conference on ICT-DM, IEEE International Conference on Communications, International Conference on Advanced Science and Technology, and ICT4DA Conference.
