Sales Performance Dashboard and creating of Data model using Power BI
Project Overview
Microsoft Power BI was used to analyse sales data and present key business insights through an interactive sales performance dashboard. The dashboard highlights important metrics, including total sales, total profit, total quantity, number of customers, total orders, and average order value. It also visualizes sales by product category, profit by region, sales by customer segment, and quarterly sales and profit performance. Year and region slicers allow users to filter the dashboard and explore performance across different periods and locations.

Data Model
Methodology
The project involved preparing sales data for analysis and organising it into a Power BI data model. A separate Date Table was created with date-related fields, including year, month, month number, and quarter, to support time-based analysis. Six KPI cards were developed to summarise overall sales performance, while charts were used to compare sales and profit across categories, regions, customer segments, and quarters. Interactive slicers for year and region were added to make the dashboard easier to explore.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
Total Sales: Summarises the total sales revenue.
Total Profit: Shows the overall profit generated.
Total Quantity: Displays the total quantity of products sold.
Number of Customers: Shows the customer count represented in the dashboard.
Total Orders: Summarises the number of orders.
Average Order Value: Shows the average sales value per order.
Charts and Visualisations
The dashboard includes the following visualisations:
Sales Trend Over Time: A line chart showing how sales change over time.
Sales by Category: A column chart comparing sales across product categories.
Profit by Region: A line chart showing profit performance across regions.
Sales by Customer Segment: A doughnut chart illustrating the contribution of different customer segments to total sales.
Quarterly Sales and Profit: A column chart comparing sales and profit across quarters.
The dashboard also includes year and region slicers, allowing users to interact with the report and examine different aspects of sales performance.
My Role and Project Outcome
I developed this dashboard to transform sales data into clear, interactive visualisations. My work involved organising the data, creating a Date Table, presenting key performance indicators, building charts, and adding slicers for year and region. The final dashboard brings important sales and profitability metrics together in one place, making it easier to compare performance and explore business trends.
