I was born in Maracaibo, Venezuela. My father and his side of the family is from Chile with ancesters from the Mapuche tribe of Chile and Quechua tribe of Peru. My mother and her family are from Austria and Hungary but they moved to Chile where my father and mother met. They travelled to Venezuela where I was born and we immigrated to the United States when I was 6 years old.
I had always been interested in helping people and immersing myself in the different realities that people live. I have studies metaphysics since the age of 13 because of my intense interest in cultural and religious practices around the world. I was turned onto psychedelics in High School where I read the book "Food of the Gods" by Terence McKenna when I took an Anthropology course in a community college. I was curious and intrigued because of the connection between psychedelics and cultural-religious experiences.
In college, I was an anthropology major but was not able to cope with the chaotic structure of academia. Because of this, I sought out another career that would allow me to immerse myself into different cultures, study people, and document my findings. I became a Police Officer with the Los Angeles Police Department where I exprienced a very successful Career. I worked as a patrol officer, field training officer, undercover anti-gang taskforce officer, in counter terrorism, at the skid row taskforce, as a senior lead officer, union delegate, and as a peer support officer. This is where I learned about mental health and how crucial it is for people to process trauma.
During the last 6 years of my career at the LAPD I was a Peer Support Officer where I was fortunate enough to become trained in crisis response, psychological de-escalation, substance abuse, and psychedelic medicine intervention for PTSD. The latter part bridged my curiosity and studies from my earlier Anthropology courses and self-guided studies on how tribal Shamans, Curanderas, and Curanderos would use psychedelic substances to heal the body, mind, and spirits of the people they served. Now, modern western society was accepting this as a practical method to do the same in the form of Ketamine and Ibogaine.
I retired from the LAPD and joined the Kern High School District Police Deparmtment where I worked with high school students, their families, teachers, administrators, and other education system support positions. I learned more about how childhood trauma and generational trauma can cause extremely negative effects on a person. I worked with drug interventionists, counselors, and social workers to help find a solution for the students and their families who were in need of support and "failing forward." I was also fortunate to have been a training manager, bodyworn camera coordinator, a member of the board of directors for the union, and a council member for the Special Olympics of Southern California's Law Enforcement Torch Run.
After retiring from being a Police Officer with the LAPD, I felt the effects of delayed onset PTSD along with the complex grief and trauma associated to a late diagnosis of being neurodivergent. I had tried many of the common medications that were prescribed for depression and anxiety but they would only muffle the negative feelings and make me feel dull and not myself. I was at the end of the line and desperate for a treatment that would work for me. Ketamine treatments were Federally legal at this point, so I hyper focused on those and learned as much as I possibly could about it before starting treatment.
Ketamine had not only allowed me to process the feelings and trauma that I hadn't been able to earlier, it was not easy. It also allowed me a glimpse of a connection between everyone and everything that I had not felt since I was very young, while also bringing some joy back into me. I continued treatment with ketamine and it allowed me to explore my mind and archetypes in a way that was unknown to me before. With treatment, I received integration from several integration coaches where I was able to feel out my journey and insights from it. After my treatment, I was inspired and decided that I wanted to immerse myself in learning about Psychedelics and maybe eventually help others as I was helped.
Like many others who have been touched by psychedelics, I read many books on the subject, how they worked, how to facilitate, integration, and the ties between psychology and psychedelics. I attended countless webinars and information exchanges on psychedelics as well. I took courses on psychedelic peer support and psychedelic integration coaching from the Los Angeles Medicinal Psychedelics Society, F.I.V.E., and Psilohealth. I assisted as a Trip Sitter in psilocybin and kambo retreats. I've also been blessed by meeting, being around, communicating with, and learning from a variety of experts in the field who are always open and happy to talk to and guide me.
Having come from a background where vetting, and checks and balances can be the difference between life and death, I made sure that I did my research before taking the word of anyone who deemed themselves an "expert" in the field. I was pleasantly surprised that all of the people who I managed to learn from, have a dialog with, or network with were extremely competent and legitimate in their knowledge and journey.
My journey also led me to Fireside Project, where as a volunteer, I was trained to help people who are actively tripping on psychedelics, or integrating previous psychedelic journeys. It's a lot like being a cop because most people don't reach out to Fireside Project when things are going well. After two years of volunteering, I was honored by Fireside Project by being permitted the role of an Ambassador. As an Ambassador for Fireside Project, I have gone to public and private psychedelic related events as a representative of Fireside Project where I had conversations with people about our mission and our services.
I felt compelled to also explore the legal mushroom used for psychedelic healing and experiences; Amanita Muscaria. I learned to work with that mushroom and enjoyed the healing effects it provided. When I was comfortable, and ready, I embarked on my own psilocybin journeys where I experienced an even more in depth relationship with my mind, body, spirit, nature, and the seen and unseen worlds around me. This allowed me to better understand myself and people who experienced a psychedelic journey on psilocybin..
As I continued my journey, I was blessed by being hired by Heading Health, a group of ketamine treatment centers for depression based out of Texas, as a Patient Care Advocate where I am the first point of contact for the clinics to people who are seeking out treatment for their depression through FDA approved psychedelic medicine. Throughout and within Heading Health, I have had the opportunity to meet some amazing people who feel a strong passion for helping others. I also work as a co-facilitator of a weekly integration circle for our patients where they speak of their healing journeys and gather insights from one another, and am the facilitator of an integration circle that serves only First Responders.
One of my most recent honors was presenting as a Subject Matter Expert for the Psychedelic Emergency, Acute, and Continuing Care Education (PEACE) Program of Ohio State University in collaboration with the Multidisciplinary Association for Psychedelic Studies (MAPS) and funded by the Ohio Department of Behavioral Health. Here, myself along with two incredible active Law Enforcement Officers, presented to Ohio Law Enforcement Officers from throughout the state. This training focused on how to respond to people experiencing psychedelic crisis as a Law Enforcement Officer in a manner that keeps harm reduction, the safety of everyone at the scene, and officer safety in mind.
After the several years of psychedelic studies and experience, coupled with the confidence that I was ready to help people with integration for ketamine, amanita, and psilocybin journeys, I humbly put myself out there in the capacity of a Psychedelic Integration Coach working to help people integrate the experiences that they underwent through Ketamine, Psilocybin, and Amanita Muscaria. I utilize both the ACE and SAFETY methods with those who I help. My preference is to follow by my client's lead when it comes to where the integrating goes while keeping their life's journey in mind.
I'm happy to help people with their integration once a week, once every two weeks, once a month, or whatever they find is most effective for them. Since I started, I have been blessed in being able to help many people integrate their journeys. Please feel free to reach out and ask any questions you have on how I can help you integrate your ketamine or mushroom journeys! You can schedule a "Welcome Call" from me on the Appointment Page.
