Estate Rust Op Twist Farms

Rust op Twist is an ocean front historical estate in St. Croix, US Virgin Islands registered under the National Heritage Trail and has for years been leading tourism on the island to our grounds. A magical tranquil home away from home that offers the most authentic and delightful experiences on one of histories most preserved Danish sugar cane plantations and historical Estates in the USVI. • Weddings, corporate events, retreats, farmers market/gift shop , and restaurant

• Working with the department of agriculture to start a farm of fruit trees to include cacao, mangoes, coconut, avocado, moringa, medicinal herbs, flowers. This will produce local jobs and shelve our farmers market and restaurant.

As This project develops, we could contract out independent interest for herding and cheese making.

Our offering will include local cheese making classes, selling and inventorying our restaurant menu to herding and cheese making to export in the future.

In the past we have harvested local honey on grounds and now have started to restore our hives to be able to harvest once again this beautiful rich virgin intense honey. You can buy our honey and other medicinal or beauty products that are created on the estate.

•We will begin the renovation project of the steam engine building for future location of the Rust op Twist Museum restaurant and gift shop. This building requires a new roof. windows and doors, minor electrical and plumbing remodel.

• Other possibilities on a section of this building are a sundries store and tasting room for future aquaculture taste and learn table events.

• Part of the tours will feature the historical use of the plantation over the different revolutions. For example how the plantation used the animals pens, water mill, wind mill, steam engine , and how they farmed. Also about the owners and the many slaves that worked and lived and died on the plantation.

• History about the geological marine station and pipelines built in the 1970’s by the University of Columbia and the University of Texas.

• Education on the operation of deep cold nutritious water used for aquaculture and how this cold water can be used to create food, water, and energy.
