Estate Rust Op Twist

Welcome to The Magic Place!

With great gratitude the Juanita Margaret Dyer (aka “Mama Candy”) Trust thanks you in advance for your kindness and support. We humbly ask your help of donations of any amount to help us reopen Rust op Twist Rambling in the Ruins Tours. We are currently restoring Rust op Twist to be able to establish tours on our private family estate which was registered under the National Heritage Trail in the V.I. We kindly ask that you respect these historical grounds as we continue to preserve and restore this magic place called Rust op Twist.

Our Trust, which has been devastated by hurricanes through the years, is in great need of funds to upkeep the landscape, sacred grounds, historical buildings, and ruins for everyone to experience and enjoy. Now is the moment to take a breath in and make a wish. Go ahead, we dare you!

On a gentle rising facing the bright Caribbean Sea, ridged by five soft hills stretched atop the iridescent shoreline, sheathed in waves of pure bliss and vision there lay the Estate Rust op Twist; Dutch for Rest after work.

It is not too difficult to understand how a wary Dutch governor, seeking refuge from the strife of war envisioned this hauntingly beautiful Estate with incantation. “Rust-op Twist” Plantage signifying; “Rest after work, strife, struggle, or toil.” Dated December 1625.

A global consciousness of unity with awareness of the formidable trinity; land, sea and air permeate. Dr. Maurice Ewing, one of the greatest oceanographers recognized and fondly quoted in August 1970 “You are standing on the Magical Place!” Estate Rust op Twist where the land arises from the sea, lifting from the western slope of the Caribbean ocean floor plate, and Southeast slope of the riff valley where the American, the Caribbean and Cocos ocean floor plates collide. One plunging Beneath another forming great depths in the Atlantic Ocean.

With the opportunity and treasure our grandmother, Mama Candy, left us to curate, we look forward to creating a special, unique one of a kind tourist island experience. Historical and educational tours will be available in the future on Rust op Twist with ongoing research for aquaculture and ocean life. This uniqueness lends itself to facilitating many sustainable future endeavors for the Estate and will produce jobs for our local economy.

100% of your donations go to the restoration of the ruins of Rust op Twist for the future enjoyment of all.
