"RIP to my good friend and mentor Cameron Dunkin," renowned trainer Robert Garcia, the older brother of Mikey Garcia, posted on social media. "The first person in boxing that believed in me as a trainer. ... He saw something in me and believed in my work and even as an inexperienced coach he trusted."

Anthony Joshua and Francis Ngannou have struck a deal for a heavyweight boxing match in Riyadh, Turki Alalshikh, chairman of Saudi Arabia's General Entertainment Authority, announced Friday on social media.

ESPN's divisional boxing rankings highlight the best in the sport in every weight class. They will change often, based on recent results and performances. Rankings are based on what a fighter has accomplished in the weight division in which he is ranked. Fighters who have announced they are moving to a different weight division will be ranked in that new weight class, if warranted, only once they fight in that weight class. Fighters who currently own titles in two divisions can be ranked in both weight classes.

Here's a list of some notable fighters in boxing, including their records, fight results, age, reach, height, links to watch some of their best fights on ESPN+, and more. Fighters' profiles are added periodically. Fighters are listed in alphabetical order.

In between, there were plenty of unforgettable action fighters, impressive prospects, shocking upsets and devastating KOs. With boxing's 2023 schedule coming to a close, ESPN hands out awards for the sport's best of the year.

Instead, Munguia escaped with the close decision victory and heads into a far tougher fight (on paper) against John Ryder on Jan. 27. Derevyanchenko returns on the undercard against an unheralded opponent. That's boxing.

Serrano added decision victories over her Brooklyn rival Heather Hardy in August and Danila Ramos in October, but that fight against Ramos was more important than any other for Serrano -- and for women's boxing.

That matchup was the first unified women's title fight contested at 12 three-minute rounds, unlike the usual 10 two-minute rounds reserved for title fights in women's boxing. To prove it was the right decision, Serrano and Ramos threw almost 2,000 punches combined in a very entertaining fight. And it was in those two extra rounds where Serrano showed her best, almost finishing Ramos while fans were chanting her name. Serrano finished the year 3-0 and was part of one of the biggest moments in boxing in 2023.

This is all subjective. After all, most of the fighters on this list will never face each other, sometimes even when they're competing in the same weight class. That's the reality of today's fractured boxing landscape.

But we can still try to determine who deserves to stand above the rest across global boxing, taking into account accomplishments, current form, talent level, potential, and most of all, the vaunted eye test. Some fighters just look the part.

Bivol was 2022 ESPN's Fighter of the Year, but he still hasn't competed during this campaign. That changes Saturday when the smooth-boxing Russian defends his title against Lyndon Arthur in a bout he's heavily favored to win.

Alvarez remains boxing's top star and reminded everyone he's still one of the sport's best, too. Following hand surgery last October, Alvarez returned to Guadalajara with a win over John Ryder in a slugfest in front of 50,000-plus fans.

Benavidez has earned the shot against boxing's top attraction, and it's easily the biggest realistic fight out there for Canelo. With his nonstop pressure, volume punching and size, Benavidez presents a stiff challenge for Alvarez. Now, he needs to get him in the ring.

Gonzalez's career could be winding down now that he's 36, but he's been counted out before. "Chocolatito" enjoyed an incredible resurgence following his brutal KO loss to Srisaket Sor Rungvisai. Not only did Gonzalez deliver another terrific performance in his dominant win over Julio Cesar Martinez last year; the Nicaraguan arguably won both of his recent bouts with Estrada. Whatever Gonzalez does next, the boxing world will be anxiously waiting.

"Boots" Ennis took another step forward in 2023 toward what many in the boxing industry have long believed is his eventual place in the pound-for-pound top 10. Ennis, an athletically gifted puncher from Philadelphia, is now a champion after Crawford was stripped.

Despite that, Garcia remains an athletic power-puncher with perhaps the quickest hands in boxing, and he put it all together to grab another KO win. Garcia still must improve his boxing technique, and if he can, he'll be tough for anyone to deal with given his other attributes.

The Filipino scored the biggest win of his career with his upset victory over Akhmadaliev, which made him a two-division champ. It also landed Tapales a career-high payday for his fight Tuesday against Inoue for the undisputed championship. Tapales is now one more upset away from boxing immortality.

The 20-year-old phenom is quickly ascending the 160-pound rankings. With his blend of power, boxing smarts and aggressiveness, Garcia could challenge for a title sooner than later. He's one of the top fighters under 25.

The longtime prospect graduated to contender status in 2023 with more impressive wins punctuated by a ninth-round KO of Marcelo Coceres, who gave Edgar Berlanga all he could handle years ago. He's ranked by ESPN as one of the best young fighters in boxing.

With 17 weight classes in boxing and four major sanctioning bodies that bestow world titles, keeping track of who holds each of the belts can be difficult -- especially when there are sometimes multiple titlists in each organization because of interim and secondary belts.

The fighter: Perhaps the best young heavyweight from the U.S., "Big Baby" Anderson has developed into a bona fide contender in boxing's glamor division. Naturally, it remains to be seen if he can contend with the heavyweight elite like longtime sparring partner Fury, as well as Usyk, Joshua and Wilder, but Anderson has proven capable thus far against lesser foes. A two-time national amateur champion, Anderson is ESPN's No. 6 heavyweight and possesses proper size for the division at 6-foot-4, 240 pounds.

The fighter: Davis, a 2020 Olympic silver medalist has showcased exceptional hand speed, skill, punching power with incredible accuracy, and technical prowess in his fast-driven young pro career. With a versatile style and a firm grasp of boxing fundamentals, Davis adapts to different opponents and situations. His commitment to hard work, dedication and continuous improvement mirrors excellence. Davis' pursuit of boxing perfection aligns with that of a champion. A few more testy matchups and the lightweight division will be on guard.

The fighter: Zayas is an incredible young boxer who has caught everyone's attention. Even though he's only 21, his boxing skills and physical strength have reached new levels. Even more impressive, he started his professional career when he was still in high school. Xander is super dedicated and focused on his goals, which makes him stand out from the rest. He has a great team of experts supporting him, and his promoter, Top Rank, has all the resources to help him become a champion and, hopefully, a Puerto Rican boxing legend.

Biggest moment or accomplishment: Fundora won her first title in incredible fashion when she scored a fifth-round KO of Arely Mucino in October to win the IBF flyweight title. There aren't a lot of KOs on the women's side of boxing, especially with two-minute rounds, but it was no problem for Fundora in her toughest test yet. She unloaded punches on Mucino to score two knockdowns and hand Mucino her first loss since 2015.

Biggest moment or accomplishment: Sandoval's left hook finish to the body to deal with Ortiz was impressive, but his punching power first caught the attention of the boxing world when he traveled to the U.K. in 2021 and dropped Jay Harris twice with the same shot in an eighth-round KO win. "I've never been hit like that," said Harris after losing that IBF title eliminator. Harris had previously taken Julio Cesar Martinez to points in an unsuccessful attempt at the WBC title.

The fighter: Just 20 years old, Garcia is already fighting on PPV undercards due to his talent and exciting fighting style. Trained by his father and grandfather, Garcia began boxing at age 11 and went on to win a U.S. National championship in 2017. He turned pro at 16 in Mexico since he couldn't be licensed at that age in the U.S., but it wasn't long before he was knocking out foes stateside, too.

Future outlook: It speaks volumes that Garcia is already receiving placement on the PPV undercard of boxing's top star, Alvarez, and it shouldn't be long before Garcia challenges for a title in the shallow 160-pound division. He owns a good height for the division at 6 feet, packs a good punch and isn't afraid to mix it up. It would be quite an upset if Garcia didn't win at least one title. -- Coppinger

Future outlook: At just 19, the boxing industry is already buzzing about Mason as not just a surefire future champion, but perhaps a pound-for-pound boxer in the making. Naturally, it's too soon to say for sure given his limited opposition, but there aren't many flaws in Mason's game, particularly when it comes to the way he sets up his punishing shots. The sky is truly the limit for this Top Rank fighter. -- Coppinger

Future outlook: "Kid Austin" Schofield is getting the attention of the boxing world. Jake Paul posted on social media after Schofield's fight that he would like to see him against one of his Most Valuable Promotions' fighters, undefeated lightweight Ashton Sylve. "Oscar let's set up H20 versus Floyd for 2024. MVPs top prospect versus Golden Boys," Paul posted on X to Schofield's promoter Oscar De La Hoya. While Schofield won't be fighting for a title in 2024, he'll be one of the fighters to watch next year. -- Coppinger

The fighter: Apolinario comes from the Philippines, where legendary boxer Manny Pacquiao was born. The Philippines is famous for producing brave and determined fighters. Like his idol, Apolinario has mastered the same boxing stance and uses a powerful, straight left hand to knock out his opponents. Although he currently competes in the flyweight division, which is not well known, if he continues to win impressively and move up to higher weight classes, boxing fans will quickly start paying attention to him. 006ab0faaa
