In chapter one of Esperanza Rising, we learn about the main character Esperanza and her family. Esperanza is worried because of her father has not yet returned from work. She thinks something bad might have happened to him, she is worried that bandits might have gotten to him. While she waits for her fathers return, Abulita and Esperanza crochet. Esperanzas mother sends Alfonso and Miguel out to look for papa, they come back with Esperanzas Papa dead body.

Objectives: Students will be able to read and respond by using text-based evidence at least 3 times.
Directions: First please take the poll about making a prediction about Esperanza Rising. Make sure you write your name and answer all of the questions. Then read chapter one, Las Uvas six years later 1930 and begin your double entry blog post. Please use a minimum of 3 quotes and make sure you respond to your quotes with your own thoughts.
