Las Cebollas: pgs. 100-120
In the chapter of Esperanza Rising entitled Las Cebollas, Esperanza is shocked to see the living conditions at the camp. Esperanza is expected to use communal toilets and share a cabin with Alfonso, Hortensia, and Isabel. Esperanza complains that they are living like horses. When she makes this comparison, Esperanza is saying that she is shocked at the living conditions at the camp and feels that she is being treated as if she is an animal. The word "like" tells us that this is an example of simile.
