Analysis of the Spanish Plan
for RECOVERY, TRANSFORMATION AND RESILIENCE
On April 13, 2021, the Government of Spain presented its action plan Espana Puede, Plan for recovery, transformation and resilience, to face the COVID 19 crisis and boost a sustainable economic recovery. This is the largest public investment in the history of Europe and its member countries, with a European investment of 72 billion euros.
The eco-union research team is conducting an analysis of the plan's key data and information. We will publish on this website the results of our work, in an open, transparent and cooperative way. This plan (last version published on 13/04/2010) has been developed due to the outbreak of Covid-19 in March 2020 which has generated a major disruption to our society, both economically and socially. In response to the paramount impact of the pandemic on our socio-economic system, the Spanish Government has designed a plan for the recovery, transformation and resilience of the country, to overcome the current health, social and economic crisis.
Three main objectives have been established:
To support in the short term the recovery from the health crisis.
To drive a structural transformation process in the medium term.
To lead in the long term to a more sustainable and resilient development from an economic-financial, social, territorial and environmental point of view.
Spain will receive from Europe through the Next Generation EU projects up to 140 billion euros in transfers and credits in the period 2021-2026, which will join the other instruments provided for in the Multiannual Financial Framework to boost investments and reforms in priority areas at the European level. They will aim to promote four cross-cutting objectives: moving towards a greener, more digital, more socially and territorially cohesive and more egalitarian Spain.
