CLASSES BEGIN TUESDAY AUGUST 18th!
Overview/ mission statement: The Performing Arts Home school co-op is designed to offer additional opportunities for Homeschooled children to expand their education in both arts and academics. The curriculum is designed to intertwine core academic skills with performing arts in order to fill gaps for parent educators.
Class offerings: Class offerings include a performing/visual art intertwined with a core academic. It is NOT the intention of the class offerings to replace academics being taught by the parent educator, but to be an addition to their curriculum. Classes are designed to run individually and NOT in line with curriculum at home. It is up to the parent educator if they want to mirror the current subjects or not.
The co-op classes will always offer a blend of a core academic and an art. For example: A visual arts and science combined lesson about color and light. Or a Music and Math combined lesson about fractions.

Music: skills: Singing, rhythm, reading music
Art:skills: various art media (drawing, painting, sculpting, weaving etc. )
Dance/Movement : physical activity and motor skills
Theater: skills: Spoken and bodily expression
Intertwined core academics: Math, Science, Social Studies, Literature, Writing

Classes start Tuesday August 18th-December 15th
NO class on Tuesday October 6th or Tuesday November 24th
Classes will resume for the spring semester on Tuesday January 5th.
Pricing: runs congruent with prices for the Performing arts studio. A portal should be created through the studio website for communication and paying tuition.
$85/ month for co-op only
$150/month for unlimited classes at the studio
Teacher: Megan LaFave is the co-op teacher for all subjects. She is a current teacher, certified in grades Kindergarten- 9th grade, with experience teaching at all grade levels and in the specific subject areas of Writing, English, Language Arts, Math, Social Studies, Art and Music at the both the Elementary and Middle school levels. Mrs. LaFave is the current Music and theater director at ESPA.
Policies and Procedures:
COMMUNICATION: Any Emergency changes to the co-op schedule will be communicated through text message from the studio director.
Non-emergency communication will be on the co-op website page.
ATTENDANCE: Participants should not attend co-op if they are experiencing symptoms of illness or FLU including:
colored mucus, diaherrea, vomiting, nausea, eye drainage, contagious infection, rash, lice, fever (within 24 hours)
FACILITY: The facility should be respected inside and out at times: please only bring clear water in sealed water bottles to drink, please clean up after yourself and please take great care in the parking lot. There are bathrooms located at the back of the building that families may use if necessary. Please make sure that students are properly toilet trained before enrollment.
DROP OFF/PICK UP: Families should arrive on time for DROP OFF and PICK UP. This co-op asks that students be dropped off for classes. We are willing to assign a parent volunteer to help with snacks and clean up, but in order to protect the other students enrolled, only the assigned teachers will be allowed in the classrooms with the class. Parents are welcome to sit in the lobby during class time or to leave the premises if they desire!
COMMITMENT: pricing is based on a monthly basis, so students are expected to attend all classes that they are billed for within the month. However, as classes run individually commitment to attendance is up to the family. Failure to pay tuition in a timely manner will result in students not being able to attend classes. If a grace period is needed please do not hesitate to contact the studio.
BEHAVIOR POLICY: Every student is expected to behave properly and respectfully at all times. If a student is disrupting a class session and does not respond to verbal redirection, he or she will be removed from the class and escorted to the office. Students will be allowed three re-directions before the parent is contacted. If the student's behavior is disruptive on a weekly basis or becomes violent or physically threatening the co-op reserves the right to dismiss the student from the program based on the protection of the other students.
GRADING: The teacher will provide rubrics and grading for all assignments and communicate this with parents. It is up to the parent if they wish to keep/ use these grades for their home school record or not.
