My roomate Tyler worked for electronic parts distrbitor Digi-Key, who held a contest for their employees to create something that shows their school spirit. A short turnaround time of only two weeks was specified, so Tyler enlisted my help to create the best possible project in the give time. We chose an audio visualizer becasue we believed it would be a fun project that would help increase some of our skills. The dimensions are 18" x 26".
Some design features not pointed out in the video included:
Velcro Acrylic - This provides easy access to the components glued to the backing and also allows us to swap out the acrylic if we decide to change the design on the front.
Speaker and Microphone Location - We chose to mount these components on the side to keep the front looking clean and uncluttered.
Light Diffusion - We sanded the acrylic with 150 grit sandpaper after testing with 3 lower grits. We found the higher grit paper left a better finish while diffusing better than the other compounds.
Here Tyler gives a brief product overview and describes how our audio visualizer works.
