School counseling is a professional service provided within schools to support students' academic, career, and social/emotional development. School counselors have a master's degree in school counseling. They work with students individually, in small groups, and in classroom settings. They offer skill-based interventions. They are not therapists.
Academic Development: Helping students improve study skills, manage time, and set academic goals
Career Development: Assisting students in exploring career interests, what to expect in junior high/middle school, high school, and post-secondary learning/life-long learning
Social/Emotional Support: Helping students navigate personal challenges such as anxiety, peer relationships, bullying, or grief
