We encourage students to speak to their parents and share their feelings. It is extremely important that parents are aware of how their student is feeling. You may find the following information helpful:
Be patient and open-minded.Â
Allow them to grieve in their own way.                                Â
Be available – Sit with the child, listen to them, and answer their questions.           Â
Let them know that a range of different emotions is normal.                Â
Validate their feelings and do not minimize them.                                                                        Â
Check in with other adults involved in their life – teachers, school counselors, coaches
