Main Areas of Interest

Active Tectonics, Paleoseismology and Seismic Hazard

For the purpose of determining an area's earthquake potential, seismic events that are recorded by equipment or identified by their impacts in archives only span a limited, if not limited, period of time (in magnitude and recurrence). This holds true for active locations like the San Andreas Fault System and the Himalayan Collision Zone, but it is especially true for intraplate zones (Stein, 2007). Our inclusion of geological information from sediment records and morphology that documents ancient occurrences in seismic hazard estimates is primarily motivated by this.

Active tectonics and earthquake signatures are examined in my research in order to identify the quake parameters from strata belonging to the Quaternary  period.
