Hello and thank you for visiting ESEL
The Environmental Systems Engineering Laboratory (ESEL) is dedicated to advancing sustainable solutions to complex environmental challenges through systems-based thinking and interdisciplinary research. Our work spans the fields of water and wastewater treatment, air quality, resource recovery, and environmental risk assessment.
ESEL aims to understand and optimize the behavior of environmental systems by integrating experimental investigations, data-driven modeling, and theoretical analysis. We strive to develop science-based strategies that promote resilient ecosystems and human well-being.
We design and evaluate advanced treatment processes to improve water quality and ensure the sustainable use of water resources in both municipal and industrial settings.
ESEL develops technologies for the recovery of valuable materials from waste streams, contributing to a low-carbon and circular economy.
We develop and apply sensor technologies and monitoring frameworks for real-time detection of pollutants in water, air, and soil. These tools support early warning systems, regulatory compliance, and data-driven environmental decision-making.
