Biografía

Ángel Francisco Sánchez Escobar, nacido el 21 de noviembre de 1951, se licenció en Filología Hispánica y Filología Anglogermánica en la Universidad de Sevilla, su ciudad natal. Completó estudios de Máster en Literatura Hispano-americana, Máster en Pedagogía y Doctorado en Didáctica del Inglés en Vanderbilt University (Nashville, Estados Unidos), donde fue Profesor de Español durante seis años (1978-84). Al regresar a España, obtuvo dos nuevos doctorados en la Universidad de Sevilla, uno en Filología Inglesa (debido a sus estudios de Vanderbilt) y, otro, en Literatura Española. En dicha universidad, trabajó como profesor durante casi treinta años. Tiene también un Doctorado en Teología de St. Stephen Harding Theological College and Seminary (Winston-Salem, North Carolina, EE.UU) y otros muchos estudios teológicos. Fue ordenado Interfaith Minister en New York, Estados Unidos (2004), presbítero en Kiev, Ucrania (2005) y consagrado obispo en Sudáfrica (2007). Es miembro del colectivo cultural Gallo de Vidrio (1972-actualidad)

Biography

Ángel Francisco Sánchez Escobar, born November 21, 1951, received his Licenciatura (5-year degree) in Hispanic and Anglo-Germanic Philology from the University of Sevilla in his hometown. He completed a MA in Hispanic Literature and a PhD in English Education and Pedagogy at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee, USA, where he was a Spanish professor for six years (1978-1984). When he returned to Spain, he earned two more doctorate degrees: one in English Philology, based on his studies at Vanderbilt, and another in Spanish Literature at the University of Sevilla. He earned another doctorate, this time in theology, from St. Stephen Theological College and Seminary in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, USA, and has also completed other studies in the field. Ángel was ordained an Interfaith Minister in New York, USA (2004), presbyter in Kiev, Ukraine (2005), and consecrated bishop in South Africa (2007).
