He gives recognition his parents and stepfather for instilling strong core values within him throughout his childhood that led to him soaring through the ranks and eventually reaching his title of Captain. Captain credits the Navy for shaping his worldview and encourages others to consider military service as an opportunity to grow and develop life changing perspective on the world. After his retirement he decided to step into the role of the Senior Naval science instructor here and EHS where he hopes to instill the same core values that helped him succeed so greatly throughout his career and pass it on to the future generation, not only to help those who decide to join the military but to all students who participate in Escambia's njrotc program no matter what profession they decide to pursue in life.
Naval Science Instructor
Master Chief Jayson Whalen
Master Chief Jayson Whalen honorably served his country for 26 years in the United States Navy, he retired July 17th, 2025. Originally from Rhode Island and a long while down the line ending up here in Pensacola Florida, he has had an absolutely outstanding career. Although it was a long road for him he says that in the end it's the phone calls he gets from sailors he once taught in the past calling him and telling him that they made it and how much Master Chief's teachings helped them along the way. His goal with teaching the young generation of njrotc cadets is to mentor them with the same values that helped him shape his career; honor, accountability, and excellence.
