If you want a smart, wireless audio experience for listening to podcasts or music while sleeping or during long meetings, choose Ertuly Sleep Earbuds; if you need maximum passive noise isolation for loud environments like construction sites or noisy neighbors without any electronics, choose KAKAPEOPLE Ear Plugs.
• Ertuly Sleep Earbuds: Offers Bluetooth 5.3 connectivity and up to 30 hours of total battery life with wireless charging, but requires active management of touch controls unless in sleep mode. Best for tech-savvy users who want to listen to content while sleeping.
• KAKAPEOPLE Ear Plugs: Delivers an impressive 45dB noise reduction rating with a massive set of eight ear tips for a custom fit, but provides zero audio playback or wireless features. Best for anyone seeking pure silence and comfort without batteries.
The Ertuly Sleep Earbuds are engineered specifically for the side sleeper who refuses to compromise on their favorite audio content. Unlike standard earbuds that dig into your ear canal when you lay your head down, these feature a compact design with three sizes of soft silicone ear caps intended to fit the "ear armor" perfectly. This ergonomic shape is not just about comfort; it creates a seal that blocks up to 24dB of external noise, which helps mask snoring or urban sounds while you drift off. If you are someone who relies on white noise, ASMR tracks, or audiobooks to fall asleep, this device is built to be your nightly companion.
What truly sets these apart from generic sleep headphones is the dedicated "Sleep Mode." I find this feature critical because most Bluetooth devices have annoying low-battery alarms, flashing lights, or accidental touch responses when you shift position on your pillow. By clicking four times on the touch point, you can disable all touch controls, turn off the LED power display, and silence battery ringtones. This ensures that once you are settled, nothing interrupts your rest. You get the benefit of high-quality sound from dynamic drivers and Bluetooth 5.3 stability without the distraction of digital notifications.
However, this product is not for everyone. If you plan to use these as primary communication tools for phone calls or video conferences, the focus here is heavily skewed toward passive listening and immersion rather than crystal-clear voice pickup for two-way conversations. The battery life is solid, offering 4 to 6 hours on a single charge and up to 30 hours with the case, which includes convenient wireless charging capabilities. This makes them excellent for travel, yoga, or even daily office use where you might need a break from ambient noise. But if you simply want to block out the world without playing a single note of music, the added complexity of charging and pairing might be unnecessary friction.

In stark contrast, the KAKAPEOPLE Ear Plugs are a purely mechanical solution designed for one thing: absolute silence. These are not electronic devices; they are reusable silicone plugs crafted to provide a high-fidelity noise reduction of up to 45dB. This rating significantly outperforms the passive isolation of the Ertuly buds, making them a superior choice for environments where volume is the enemy, such as near heavy machinery, in concert venues, or in apartments with thin walls. The inclusion of eight different ear tips is a standout detail, suggesting that the manufacturer understands that ear canal shapes vary wildly. This variety allows you to find a seal that doesn't hurt while maximizing the decibel reduction.
The material is soft silicone, which implies a level of comfort suitable for extended wear. Whether you are trying to sleep through a snoring partner, working in a noisy open-plan office, or traveling on a plane, these plugs act as a physical barrier against the chaos. They are lightweight, weighing in at just 3.2 ounces for the entire package including the case, and come in a simple black color scheme. There are no buttons to press, no apps to download, and no Bluetooth signals to interfere with your connection. They are a "plug and forget" solution that works immediately upon insertion.
That said, you must accept what these are not. They offer no audio capability whatsoever. If you need to hear an alarm clock, take a phone call, or listen to a podcast before bed, these will not work. They are strictly for noise protection. The lack of electronics means there is no risk of a dead battery ruining your night, but it also means they cannot adapt to your needs like the Ertuly buds can by switching modes. They are best suited for the person who values raw performance and simplicity over features, functionality, or entertainment.
• Best for Battery Life → Ertuly Sleep Earbuds: With a 1-hour charge time and up to 30 hours of total playtime via the case, you can go days without plugging them in, whereas the earplugs require no power at all but offer no usage duration limits since they are passive.
• Best Noise Reduction Rating → KAKAPEOPLE Ear Plugs: At 45dB of attenuation, these physically block more sound than the Ertuly buds' 24dB passive isolation, making them the winner for extreme quiet.
• Best for Listening to Content → Ertuly Sleep Earbuds: Only the Ertuly option supports Bluetooth 5.3 streaming, allowing you to play music, podcasts, or meditation sounds directly to your ears.
• Best for Comfort Variety → KAKAPEOPLE Ear Plugs: The kit includes eight eartips compared to the Ertuly's three, giving you a much wider range to achieve a perfect, pain-free seal.
• Best for Side Sleepers (Audio) → Ertuly Sleep Earbuds: Their specific mini design and sleep mode prevent accidental touches and flashing lights, making them safer for restless sleepers who need audio.
• Best for Meetings/Work Focus → Ertuly Sleep Earbuds: While both block noise, the ability to stream headband headphones for meetings or wireless headphones for meetings makes the Ertuly the only viable choice for auditory engagement.
• Best for Durability/Simplicity → KAKAPEOPLE Ear Plugs: No circuits, no charging ports, and no software updates mean these are less likely to fail mechanically over time.
• Best Travel Companion → Ertuly Sleep Earbuds: The wireless charging case and long battery life make them more versatile for flights and hotels where you might want to watch movies or listen to music.
If I had to pick one product to keep in my bag for a mix of travel, work, and sleep, I would choose the Ertuly Sleep Earbuds. The versatility of having Bluetooth 5.3 connectivity combined with a dedicated sleep mode that silences alarms and lights gives me control over my environment in a way passive plugs cannot. While the KAKAPEOPLE plugs offer higher noise reduction, they are too limited for modern needs; you simply cannot rely on them if you ever need to listen to something or connect to a device. In my opinion, the Ertuly buds strike the perfect balance between blocking enough noise to sleep and providing the audio flexibility needed for headband headphones for meetings or casual listening. For anyone looking for wireless headphones for meetings or a reliable sleep aid that doesn't die halfway through the night, the Ertuly is the smarter investment.
Yes, they support Bluetooth 5.3 connectivity, making them suitable for streaming audio during calls, though they are primarily optimized for sleep and passive listening rather than professional microphone use.
Yes, with a 45dB noise reduction rating, the KAKAPEOPLE plugs offer significantly higher passive isolation than the Ertuly's 24dB, making them more effective at blocking loud snoring.
The Ertuly Sleep Earbuds offer up to 30 hours of total playtime with their charging case and support wireless charging, whereas the KAKAPEOPLE Ear Plugs require no battery at all since they are non-electronic.
Both options cater to fit, but the KAKAPEOPLE set includes eight different ear tip sizes compared to the Ertuly's three, potentially offering a more precise fit for smaller or unique ear shapes.
