What to expect from counselling with Emma

What to expect from counselling with Emma.

Step 1

After you have made contact with Emma she will get back to you within 48 hours.

Step 2

An initial phone call or email will establish if Emma has availability that suits you.  This may depend on whether you want phone, online or face-to-face counselling.  There are pros and cons to each type.

Step 3

An introductory phone call (up to 15 minutes) will be scheduled to gather information about you and your reasons for accessing counselling at this time.  Emma will answer any questions you have.  Then you will be asked to complete an Initial Assessment Form and read the Client Contract.  Your first appointment will be scheduled.

Step 4

At your first appointment the Client Contract will be discussed and signed.  Emma and you will agree on an estimated number of sessions.  Emma will explain all elements of the contract and check you are happy and understand them.

After these steps the counselling sessions will be unique to you.  You can talk about anything and express any feelings in each session.  It is normal for clients to feel apprehensive about counselling and it may take a little while for you to feel safe and trusting.

Step 5

Progress will be reviewed approximately every 4 weeks in a counselling session.

Step 6

Once you are a few sessions from ending counselling Emma will help you prepare for this.

Step 7

Once you have completed counselling a voluntary and confidential Client Evaluation form will be sent to you.  The aim of this is to provide feedback to Emma as she continues to develop professionally.
