Erin's Views
Erin speaks for everyone. Not just for the rich or well connected. Teachers, Nurses, Clergy, First Responders, Small Business Owners, everyone. Being a moderate, she speaks to everyone with the exception of extreme positions.
Healthcare
"I am tired of hearing that we have the best health care that
money can buy. The issue is "That money can buy". Everyone is one illness or accident away from bankruptcy. When I became ill, I had my CHIP insurance cancelled because my health care was "too expensive"."
Our health care in District 65 is very lacking to say the least. There needs to be incentive for young doctors to move here and set-up private practice. The clinics we now have are run by the large insurance companies who dictate the care and costs related to health care. Plus there is not one dentist in the district that takes Medicaid. If you are poor or disabled, you need to go to either Meadville or Erie for care. If you do not have transportation, then you are screwed. This is wrong and needs to change.
Education
Erin believes that a good educational system is the foundation of a thriving society. A good education should not be decided on the wealth of the local community. Rural school districts should have the same resources that the wealthier urban areas have. Access to a good education should be a fundamental right for everyone in the Commonwealth.
Economic Growth/Small Business Support
Erin has witnessed many employers leaving or going out of business in District 65. For Western Pennsylvania to thrive, economic growth is essential. It will help retain residents and attract new talent to the area. District 65 needs to enhance its infrastructure to encourage businesses to establish themselves here and offer well-paying jobs to the community.
First Responder Protection and Compensation
Our First Responders and 911 Dispatchers face situations that the average person will hopefully never encounter. Many of the incidents they handle are life-changing due to their horrific nature, often leading to PTSD and emotional or psychological injuries. These employees deserve the same protections through Workers' Compensation as other employees.
