Erin E. Frolli

Senior Software Engineer / Data Scientist

Bio:

I began my science & tech career in 2006, at California State University Monterey Bay, where I earned two Bachelor of Science degrees in Mathematics and Environmental Science, Technology & Policy. During this time, I researched jellyfish and their role as prey for the critically endangered Pacific Leatherback sea turtles (Dermochelys coriacea) and continued my research at Montana State University, where I earned a Master of Science degree in Land, Resources, and Environmental Sciences in 2014.

After graduate school, I was a Research Scientist Associate for the Marine Science Institute at the University of Texas at Austin. My role as a data scientist was to monitor how Antarctic Weddell seals navigate in the frozen waters of Antarctica.

Currently, I am a Senior Software Engineer in the tech industry. I have worked on building the future of 3D technology at HOVER, making it easier to measure, design, and estimate home improvement projects. I have also worked at Pocus as a full-stack Engineer helping to create Pocus, the first Product-Led Sales platform that turns product data into revenue. And currently, I am working on the commerce team at Disney Streaming, helping bring the wonderful world of Disney into everyone's home through their favorite shows and brands.

I am obsessed with tea 🍵, working to promote queer people in tech, mentorship, and uplifting others.

About Me:

I am a senior software engineer who has experience in data science and programming in locations such as Antarctica, New Zealand, and here in the US. Over the last 13 years, my experience has spanned scientific research projects and working for startups in the tech industry. I find that I am an engineer who is motivated by working on a team that is solving complex problems.

My Passion:

I want to inspire the next generation of young people to the wide breadth of careers available to them in science, math, and engineering. I also advocate for the LGBTQ+ and woman's rights in communities and especially queer women and non-binary folks to help develop their confidence to work in science and technology.

I love to pay it forward and show others that when we work together, think creatively, and question assumptions as a cohesive group we are able to really create something amazing whether it is a user-friendly app or understanding and interpreting a study's result.

I accomplish this by volunteering my time to organizations and programs that I support. This includes sitting on informative panels, mentorship, and hosting coding sessions. One of my big goals was to create safe spaces for others to thrive as individuals I have done this by stepping up as co-chair for HOVER's diversity and inclusion committee.

Outside of my world of science & technology...

My sense of adventure and risk-taking abilities lead me to travel, move to new places, and go on backpacking adventures. I have traveled to Mexico, Antarctica, and New Zealand and have lived in Colorado, Oregon, Washington, Nevada, California, Montana, and Texas. I have an immense love of the outdoors. I can be often found hiking, backpacking, and camping with family and friends. From backpacking all over New Zealand to the Lost Coast Trail in Northern California to the Smoky Mountains in Tenise.

To center myself, I am obsessed with tea 🍵and Gung Fu brewing. I collect various teapots, teawares, and high-quality tea. I love each and every one of my tea pets and I travel to various locations to do tea mindfulness sessions 🍵🧘‍♀️ with my tea backpack 🍵🎒!

I am a furry pet parent of two amazing animals my cat Nefertiti 🐈 and my Doberman Luna🐕 . Luna and I spend a lot of time hiking, running, and playing ball together but our favorite past time is cuddling on the couch with Neff and binge-watching shows!
