These images were made from papercuts using black paper and an X-Acto knife. In some cases, I added color in Procreate. I have been long intrigued by hands. I generally do not like representing faces because they are too hard to get right.

Hands offer an alternative. Reaching, gripping, sifting, or lifting, hands are not self-conscious. Loved ones move through the world in particular ways. Catching their hands interacting with their environment,  doing something they need or love to do, is a gift. If I catch any glimmer of familiarity, I think I have succeeded.
