International Studies 2800 - Introduction to Peace Studies

This course provides a comprehensive overview of the quest for peace. It traces major issues in the interdisciplinary field of peace studies and it introduces a variety of strategies to achieve peace. Drawing from political science, anthropology, history, philosophy, and other fields, students are exposed to dimensions of peace and conflict both on the international stage, and within the domestic sphere. By exposing students to prominent issues of the day, this course traces the relationship between violence, unrest, power, and legitimacy, and encourages students to explore the numerous dimensions of violence and the prospects for peace in our world today.
