Pre-PhD

Economic Policy Consultant (2015-2017)

After graduating from my MSc degrees, I worked as an economic policy consultant at Ecorys. In this position, I wrote proposals and reports on a variety of topics for both Dutch public sector clients, as well as the European Commission. For most projects, I was responsible for the quantitative analysis.

More concretely, I contributed to reports for Ministries in the Netherlands and Belgium, Dutch Provinces, the Dutch Healthcare Authority and DG TRADE and DG GROW at the European Commission in Brussels. For a snapshot of my projects, see below.

Research Assistant (2011-2013)

Between 2011 and 2013, I was a Research Assistant of Prof. Maarten Allers (University of Groningen, NL) and the Centre for Research on Local Government Economics (COELO - Centrum voor Onderzoek van de Economie van de Lagere Overheden). In the first year, I contributed to the data collection of local government taxation in the Netherlands. In my second year, I supervised a team of 4 other RAs doing the same, and contributed to a book (to be used in the Dutch Parliament in 2013), an academic article in the leading Dutch economics journal, and a working paper of the University of Groningen about local government bailouts. See below.
