This film begins on the day President Kennedy was assassinated and ends nearly five years later, on the night his brother Bobby was killed at the Ambassador Hotel.
It tells the story of a chrysalis emerging — a caterpillar becoming a butterfly, only to die in the process.
During the four years in which Bobby Kennedy took flight on his own political path, he left an indelible mark on American politics — one filled with immense hope, and, ultimately, deep disillusionment.
It was a utopian quest — perhaps naïve, but so passionately pursued that JFK’s younger brother paid the ultimate price, assassinated in turn.

00:59:57:08 - 01:52:25:14 In 1941, JFK’s sister, Rosemary, mysteriously disappeared from public sight after a lobotomy ordered by her own father. She emerged half-paralyzed, with the mental age of a 3-year-old child! Joseph Kennedy had his daughter institutionalized, and imposed a veil of silence upon the family, which became complicit in this erasure effort.

For the first time, this film explores what has remained to this day the Kennedy family’s darkest secret. It takes us deep within the famous Kennedy’s youth, revealing the mad ambition of the parents who wanted to turn their model family into an instrument to rise to political power.

01:52:25:24 - 02:47:35:08 Patrick Jeudy wanted to go beyond the classic portrait and further than the usual documentaries based on the Zapruder archives, by exploring the story from Jackie’s point of view — to uncover “what Jackie knew.”
In everything she did, Jackie was a modern woman — someone who voiced her opinions and asserted her ideas — just as Jack was a modern man, in the sense that he fully embraced the seductive power that came with his position.
Jackie was not just “the president’s wife.” She forged her own style; she transformed not only the image of the First Lady, but also the way the entire world saw the American woman.
