I am currently participating in the Reflective and Effective Teaching year-long training program in pedagogy run by the Northwestern University Searle Center. As a participant in this course, I participate in seminars and discussion groups with my peers as we learn pedagogical approaches and consider how they may function in our own classrooms. I also design materials to use in future courses. All materials I design through this course and reflections on my learning will be available in June 2025 upon completion of the program.
I served as the instructor of record for a graduate-level course in statistics and statistical analysis in the Department of Hearing and Speech Sciences, designed for students in the Doctorate of Audiology program. As the instructor I taught all courses, which spanned from a basic introduction to probability and statistics through mixed ANOVA and multiple regression. I also designed and graded student assignments, including providing accomodations for students as necessary. Course evaluations are available upon request..
I served as a teaching assistant for Dr. Yi Ting Huang's HESP 300 Psycholinguistics class at the University of Maryland in Fall 2022. In this role I graded student assignments, held office hours to support students outside of the classroom, designed new exam questions, led study sessions, and taught two guest lectures (bilingualism and psycholinguistics of sign language)
I served as the graduate mentor for PULSAR (the Program in Undergraduate Language Science Ambassadors in Research) at the University of Maryland for two semesters. In this role, I mentored undergraduate students who were engaged in language science research from an interdisciplinary perspective, helping them to better understand the broad range of perspectives and approaches to language science. My responsibilities included meeting with students individually to help them set goals and connect them with faculty mentors who could advance their research interests, moderating discussion in our weekly seminar, and developing and guiding professional development trainings to meet the students' needs.
