Research in Integrated photonic circuits (PICs) merge lasers, modulators, detectors and waveguides on-chip to carry data with light instead of electricity. Implementation of the transformer operations in the analog domain using photonics has significant potential for overcoming associated with traditional FGPAs such as A2D conversion, and promises ultrafast, broadband, and low-power information processing. We investigate novel design frameworks that utilize topological photonic architectures that can be adopted by all photonic material platforms for many interesting device applications. Our research aims to address challenges associated with the scalability of photonic chips, focusing on automated design for large scale ships, reducing overall chip size, optimizing coupling efficiency between components, and implementing new functionality for programmable devices.
