The Groomsfolk

Joe's Groomsfolk

David Perez

Hi I’m David! I am Joe’s big brother. Growing up we didn’t always see eye to eye! He knows I will always have his back though. Joe is a one of a kind, kind of man. When I first met Eric i knew these two balanced one another out and are great together! I am so honored to be a part of this amazing day for Joe and Eric! I also am ready to be a part of the day where they start the next chapter of their lives, when these two become one!

Matt Aponte

I am Matthew. I am in 9th grade, and I currently attend school in Horace Mann. I am interested in and participate in stage crew, musical theatre, fencing, and writing for publications. I am Joe’s youngest brother. Joe has always been there for me ever since I could remember. Throughout my entire life, he has always been right next to me, even when he is far away. Getting me through hard times, cracking jokes that should have never been cracked, and convincing me to ride rides that I really shouldn’t have; Joe will always be one of my best friends for life. I can't wait to be there with him on his big day.

Nick Eichar

Hi, I'm Nick. Joe was one of the first people I met freshman year at NYU and it didn't take long for us to become really close friends. Joe was there to help me when I proposed to my wife (and current groomsperson) Melissa. He also did the greatest job marrying us a year later (he even included a Friends reference). Recently I've enjoyed visiting Joe and Eric in their beautiful East Boston home and I am very excited to be a part of their big day!

Melissa Rifai

Hey, I’m Melissa! I’ve known Joe for more than 10 years (!!!) now, he was one of my first friends at NYU. Joe has been there for so many of the major moments of my life - including as the world's best officiant at my wedding - and I’m so ridiculously excited to be a groomsmaid in Joe and Eric’s wedding!! Joe and Eric are such a great couple and I’m honored to be a part of the start of this new chapter of their lives.

Joanne Hong

Hi, I’m Joanne! I met Joe freshman year studying for midterms together. We became fast friends and have been connected at the hip ever since. Joe has been with me during major milestones in my life, and I’m excited and honored to be part of his wedding with Eric!

Eric's Groomsfolk

Paula Leaf

Paula & Eric (aka, Pavel & Aireek) began their friendship in the summer of 2007 while they were both taking an intensive français course at the University of Michigan. Initially, Paula thought Eric was laughing at her and was very unsure of him. Thankfully it was a misunderstanding, & they soon became fast friends as they were forced to spend four hours a day, four days a week together. From that day forward, Paula joined Eric in laughing...at other people. Whether it be a Jason lookalike, a giant crow in Northern Michigan, or a terminal illness, Pavel & Aireek are always able to find the humor in any situation.

Judy Ch'ang

Eric or EEBS and I met in the halls of South Quad our sophomore year. "What a cute skinny band nerd," I thought. We quickly bonded - same ridiculous sense of humor and low tolerance of alcohol. From bubble tea dates to quarterly Christmas Tree-Fairway Cookies parties, my father and step mother feeding Eric until he was more than full, Eric has always been my deepest confidant. He stood by me during my darkest days and he knows ALL OF MY SECRETS... literally all of them. I am enamored with Joseph, sweet cherub. I am so excited to stand with them!! If I'm not there.. I'm near the candy cane. Tropical.... not original.

Kristin Konschuh

Hi, my name is Kristin! I met Eric my senior year of college when he was a RA at U of M. We immediately bonded over our love of cheesy breadsticks at the Markley Cafeteria. Our friendship continued to grow, and Eric was a groomsman in my wedding.

Eric and Joe are such a wonderful couple. They balance each other out in the best way possible. I can't wait to stand up in their wedding and I am so honored to be a part of their special day!

The Officiants

Stephanie Walla & Sam Sprangel

Perhaps it's because all Michiganders can find other out-of-state Michiganders, or because Stephanie and Joe worked together at Eastern Michigan University, but the weekend Stephanie and Sam moved to Boston they met up with Joe and Eric, and the "quaple" has been together ever since. Sharing everything from adventurous nights out to weekend brunches- and even addresses!- Joe and Eric are our friends-turned-family and it's our distinct honor to celebrate their marriage with them.
