I’m Eric Favors — a New York native, Olympian, and professional shot putter representing Ireland 🇮🇪 I grew up in Rockland County, New York, playing just about every sport I could. But track and field is where things started to click. In high school, I had the opportunity to train under Irish Olympian Paddy McGrath — a relationship that changed the trajectory of my career. He helped me realize not only my potential in the sport, but also my eligibility to represent Ireland through my grandparents. With strong Irish roots growing up in New York, it was an opportunity I took seriously from day one. That path led me to the University of South Carolina, where I spent six years developing as both an athlete and a person — earning a degree in criminal justice and a master’s in learning design and technologies along the way. More importantly, it’s where I built the foundation for competing at the highest level. Today, I train professionally out of Pennsylvania with Garage Strength under coach Dane Miller. Every day is focused on one thing: getting better — technically, physically, and mentally. Along the way, I’ve:
But what matters most to me now isn’t just what I’ve accomplished — it’s what I can help other athletes achieve. I know what it’s like to:
Feel stuck technically
Train hard without seeing results
Try to figure things out on your own
That’s why I’ve built my coaching around the same systems, feedback loops, and training methods I use at the Olympic level. If you’re serious about improving — not just working harder, but actually throwing farther — I’m here to help guide that process. And if you want to see how I train, compete, and break things down in real time, you can follow my journey across social media.
