Er-Cheng Tang

Hi, I am a third-year PhD student in computer science at the University of Washington, advised by Andrea Coladangelo and Huijia (Rachel) Lin. I am in the theory group, the cryptography group, and the quantum group. I obtained my B.S. and M.S. in mathematics from National Taiwan University, where I worked on practical zero-knowledge arguments with Jiun-Ming Chen. My research focuses on cryptography, complexity theory, and quantum computing.

In Summer 2025, I participated in the Cryptography 10 Years Later program at the Simons Institute for the Theory of Computing where I gave an invited talk. In Spring 2024, I was a long-term student visitor there for the Quantum Algorithms, Complexity, and Fault Tolerance program.
