This is an introductory course to the visual arts. The content covers a variety of concepts and drawing media, painting and color theory, three-dimensional design, pottery, calligraphy and techniques in perspective. This course is a prerequisite course for advanced art classes. It is expected that students gain skills and patience while also learning to process and describe artworks.
Ceramics is an intermediate sculpture course focusing exclusively in the clay medium. Students will discover the connection between sculpture and other art disciplines as they learn new techniques and create are exclusively in clay. Students will learn to create 3D forms using clay in a number of techniques and procedures and gain a further knowledge of the elements of art and principles of design. Students will use planning strategies/ sketches to develop ideas for creative 3-D works of art. And most importantly, they will grow and personally express themselves through works of art using clay.
