Students participated in a 10-day cultural immersion trip to Panama, where they explored Afro-Panamanian culture through its food, landmarks, communities, and historical sites. Throughout the journey, they witnessed both the vibrancy of Afro-Panamanian life and the troubling erasure of its presence in mainstream narratives.
In response, and under the guidance of Professor Nicole Carr, students created a short docufilm and a collection of articles to highlight the richness of Afro-Panamanian contributions and bring awareness to their underrepresentation.
