"Shaping our future together"

The topic of the project week in Sibiu was "Shaping our future together". The students discussed how the government works and learned how everyone can actively participate in forming their community.

Activities about democratic participation

Workshop: An integrated approach to democracy
Workshop: Journalist for a day (students preparing questions for the members of the city council)
Visit of the town hall, where the student "journalists" posed their prepared questions to members of the city council
Role play: Active citizens in our local community
Presentations of the students' councils of the participating schools; discussion about similarities and differences in the different countries
Workshop: Digital active citizenship (using Canva)

Some results of the project week:

Workshop: An integrated approach to democracy

The students had to do research about different countries and their form of government. They had to take into account things like how the leaders are elected, which rights have minorities, freedom of press, etc.

Workshop: Journalist for a day

The students thought of questions to pose to the members of the city council during their visit to the town hall. Topics were local economic development, education and culture, social assistance and volunteering programs, transport and sustainability.
