Student Researcher

Hyoeun Kwak is a PhD student in Nursing and a part-time research assistant. She is currently working as a registered nurse in the VIP ward at Severance Hospital, Seoul, South Korea. She has six years of clinical experience in the emergency department and also served as a teaching assistant at the College of Nursing for two years, gaining experience in nursing education and administration. She has developed an interest in the post-discharge self-management of psychiatric patients and suicide attempters visiting the emergency department, and her goal is to develop effective strategies to support and intervene in this area. 

Jinyeong Kim is a part-time PhD student at the College of Nursing, Yonsei University. He earned a Master’s degree in Medical Law from Korea University, a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing from the National Medical Center College of Nursing, and a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from Hanyang University. Before entering the field of forensic investigation, he gained four years of clinical experience in the intensive care unit and operating room at Asan Medical Center, where he developed a strong foundation in critical care. Since 2012, he has been serving at the Crime Scene Investigation Team of the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency as a Medicolegal Death Investigator, conducting death scene investigations and collaborating with multidisciplinary forensic teams. His research interests focus on forensic nursing, mental health care for victims and bereaved families of crime scenes, and the development of forensic nursing education and policy. Through his research, he aims to (1) manage victims’ mental health based on forensic nursing and mental health nursing, and (2) develop forensic nursing education and policy 

Eunju Park is a PhD student at Yonsei University College of Nursing and a full-time researcher in Professor Heejung Kim’s eRAPPORT Lab. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Yonsei University. She has four years of clinical experience in internal medicine and surgery at Severance Hospital and Kangbuk Samsung Hospital, and one year of experience as a Clinical Research Coordinator (CRC) in the Division of Rheumatology at Hanyang University Hospital. In addition, she has three years of experience as a teaching assistant and another three years as a nursing lecturer and clinical practice instructor. She also worked for three years in psychiatric wards and community mental health welfare centers, and she is a certified Mental Health Nurse Specialist in Korea. She is currently managing the NRF-funded international project, “Development and Implementation of AI-driven Individualized Program of Digital Suicide Prevention: Global Research Collaboration in Korea–Hong Kong–Singapore.” Her research interests focus on community-based mental health nursing, aiming to integrate clinical nursing practice, community mental health, and digital health innovation to promote holistic well-being. 

Sohee Kim is a master’s student in Nursing and a full-time research assistant at Yonsei University College of Nursing. She has two years of clinical experience in the thoracic surgery ward at Asan Medical Center and four years of experience as a school nurse (public middle school teacher) in Seoul. Her research interests center on adolescents, with a focus on eating disorders and digital interventions. Her ultimate goal is to develop digital intervention programs and applications that provide practical and effective support for individuals with mental health vulnerabilities. 

Wonjeong Chae is a doctoral student in nursing and a part-time researcher. She has clinical experience in the thoracic surgery ward at the National Medical Center and experience in disability assessment in the insurance sector. She currently serves as a lecturer at Kongju National University. Her research focuses on minority stress, depression, and mental health among those bereaved by suicide.

Mylena Lima is a Master’s student at Yonsei University College of Nursing and currently works as a full-time research assistant. She graduated from the first school of nursing in Brazil, where she was actively involved in research focused on people living with HIV at one of the country’s leading reference hospitals for HIV care.

Although she does not yet have formal clinical work experience, she completed multiple internships throughout her undergraduate studies, gaining practical exposure to patient care. Her research experiences with individuals living with HIV sparked a strong interest in mental health within this population. This interest guided the focus of her undergraduate thesis, which explored mental health aspects among people living with HIV.

Hyunchan Ma is an undergraduate researcher at Yonsei University College of Nursing. His initial interest in psychiatric nursing was cultivated during his military service, where he gained firsthand experience providing care for patients with mental illness. His current research efforts are dedicated to Professor Heejung Kim’s focus areas, particularly in advancing mental health through the innovative application of digital healthcare technologies. He is committed to exploring effective strategies for integrating comprehensive psychiatric care into the rapidly evolving digital ecosystem. 

Yujin Hwang is an undergraduate student at Yonsei University College of Nursing, working as a research assistant under Professor Heejung Kim. Participation in the 2025 ICN Congress sparked her interest in digital healthcare, the integration of AI and nursing, and medical data analysis. She is currently exploring how emerging technologies can enhance nursing practice and improve patient outcomes.
