Overview
This policy explains what data the Equalizer & Bass Booster app collects, how it's used, and your rights over it. All audio processing happens on your device. We collect only the minimum data required to deliver the app's features and prevent piracy.
Data Stored on Your Device
The app stores the following in private app storage (removed on uninstall):
Your equalizer settings and custom presets
Your selected UI style
App install timestamp and app-open counts (for review prompt timing)
Your Google Play purchase token and order ID (issued by Google Play when you buy premium)
A randomly generated device install identifier (not linked to your Google account)
A short-lived signed entitlement token (valid for 30 days)
A flag indicating whether premium is active
Data Transmitted to Our Server
To verify premium purchases and prevent piracy, the app sends limited data to our validation server at most once per 30 days per device, or when you purchase premium:
Your Google Play purchase token
The product identifier and app package name
Your device install identifier
Our server forwards the token to the Google Play Developer API to confirm the purchase is valid, then returns a signed entitlement to your device.
Each verification is recorded in a private log containing: timestamp, device install identifier, Google Play order identifier, a hashed version of the purchase token, your IP address, and your user-agent string. Logs are retained for 180 days, then automatically deleted. They are used solely to detect fraud (such as a single purchase being shared across many devices) and are never sold or used for advertising.
Our server is hosted outside the European Economic Area, in a jurisdiction recognised by the European Commission as providing adequate data protection.
Third-Party Services
We use the following services to deliver the app. Each may process data as described in their own privacy policies:
Google Play Billing - processes your purchases.
Google Play Developer API - validates your purchase on our server's behalf.
Google AdMob - displays ads to free users only. Not initialised for premium users.
Google User Messaging Platform - collects your GDPR consent for ad personalisation (free users in the EEA only).
Permissions
Modify audio settings / record audio - required by Android's audio effects framework (we do not record, store, or transmit microphone input)
Foreground service / notifications - keeps the audio engine running with a visible notification
Internet / network state - for ads, purchase validation, and Google Play Billing
Advertising ID - used by Google AdMob for free users
Bluetooth connect - detects connected headphones for AutoEQ suggestions
Data Retention and Deletion
On your device: removed when you uninstall the app
On our server: verification logs automatically deleted after 180 days; to request earlier deletion, email us with your device install identifier
Ad data: governed by Google AdMob's policies
Security
Communication between the app and our server is encrypted in transit. Purchase tokens are hashed before being written to server logs. Entitlement tokens are cryptographically signed.
Your Rights
Under GDPR and similar laws, you have the right to access, correct, or delete your data, withdraw ad-personalisation consent (in-app, for EEA users), and lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority. Contact us using the address below.
Children
This app is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children.
Changes to This Policy
We will update the "Last Updated" date above if we make material changes.
