The EPSNA Chili Cook-Off & Movie Night is Back!

by Jewels Beverly

After a brief simmering hiatus, the neighborhood Chili Cook-Off & Movie Night is making its comeback! Join us on Saturday, September 19, 2026, at the intersection of Volk Avenue and Stearns Street for an evening of delicious chili, friendly competition, and a classic family-friendly movie under the stars.

Chili tasting begins at 6:00 p.m. Come hungry, sample the entries, and vote for your favorite! Prizes will be awarded to our winning cooks before the movie begins at 7:00 p.m. or just after dusk. This year’s movie selection will be The Mighty Ducks (1992).

Think you have a winning recipe? Chili entries are limited to 12 cooks, so sign up early to reserve your spot. Neighborhood chefs of all experience levels are welcome—whether your specialty is classic, spicy, smoky, vegetarian, white chicken chili, or something completely unexpected. Registration closes September 5, or sooner if all 12 spots are filled. A minimum of 10 entries are required for the event to run, so don't wait to sign up!

EPSNA members receive free chili tasting and popcorn. Non-members are welcome with a suggested donation of $5 per person. Tasting cups and spoons will be provided. Please bring your own drinks, lawn chairs, and blankets for the movie.

Let’s fill those crockpots and bring this neighborhood favorite back better than ever!
