The High Point University wind ensemble members participated in a trip after the spring semester in 2023 that saw us traveling to Rome, Venice, and Florence. On this trip, the band performed excerpts of American Music written during classical times, new music written by one of our students, Reyna Alston, and chamber ensembles performing small pieces of music. The trip allowed the students to play in churches in each city, while also spending some days sightseeing and learning about Italian history. This trip allowed the students to better understand world history while having fun playing music together.
While in Italy, I was able to perform with the Trombone Trio where we played Two Piece for Three Trombones, Movement Ⅰ: Felicity by Raymond Premru (1934-1998).
