Becoming a teacher is a path I randomly stumbled upon while trying to figure out a long term goal to aim towards. Before making this decision, I sat down and spent time by myself to figure out what makes me happy, what drives me forward, and what I could see myself doing for the rest of my life. As I made different notes about myself, the answer I aimed towards the most was teaching. As an English major, I love every element that the subject of English has to offer. I think it is beautiful and it has always been a subject I've done exceedingly well in. I could learn, study, or discuss things such as grammar, literature, reading, and writing for hours. Because of this, I realized that becoming an English teacher was the best possibility for me to work towards.
In the future, I want to change the way students view learning and attending school. To me, learning should be a fun, pleasurable experience. There should be no stress, fear, or dread inside a classroom. Creating a fun, peaceful, and positively productive classroom is a major goal of mine as a future educator. If I can show students that learning can be fun, even if it is a subject they may or may not be fond of, success can be made. Regardless of how simple or difficult a subject may be, making learning an enjoyable experience should always be a teacher's top priority. I will always do my best to create classroom environments that suit all student's needs, even if the need is making the experience memorable for them.
Being a positive, healthy role model is one way I plan to achieve this goal. I believe that exceptional teachers can bring out the best in students simply by the way they act and speak during class. Healthy communication, positive encouragement, skillful tools and knowledge, effective lesson plans, and clear goals are all ways I plan to help students love to learn excel in school. It is a dream that I will turn into a reality.
