Epod is a collaboration between Keele University, York St John University and Morley College.  Morley College's exceptional facilities at their Waterloo Campus in Central London, makes for an ideal venue for the first EPOD conference.

Venue: Morley Radio/Morley College London, 61 Westminster Bridge Road, London SE1 7HT

Dates:  Wednesday 19 June and Thursday 20 June:

• Wednesday - registration at 18:00, followed by a live podcast panel and drinks reception. Expecting to finish around 20:00

• Thursday - the conference will begin at 08:30 with registration and a keynote starts at 09:00. The day concludes at approximately 17:30.

The proceedings from the conference will be published by Routledge. 

About:

Education through Podcasting (EPOD) is a new conference series cementing a partnership between Routledge, Morley College, York St John University and SoundLearnings Podcast. Academics, researchers and practitioners will find a forum, through the unique medium of radio and podcasting, to come together to share and disseminate their research and experience of teaching, learning and training through the use of podcasts. All speakers at the conference will be given the opportunity to write up their presentation into a chapter for the proceedings book published by Routledge. 

Themes of the conference include, but are not limited to:

• Audio as a medium for education

• Specific audio developments that have influences the podcasting space

• Historic or contextual developments of podcasting as a learning environment

• Standards, standardisation, and the controversy around RSS feeds

• Explorations of definitions and concepts and delineations (example: radio/ podcasting)

• Blended, Online, Mixed Mode, Digital: Educational environments, its pedagogical trends and how audio fits into this picture

• Discourses around the educational aspects of public vs private in the podcast space

• Explorations of issues related to intellectual property in educational podcasting

• Case studies of good practice

• Case studies in podcasting and community learning

• Case studies in discipline specific uses of podcasting in education (e.g. in Theatre, Music, Storytelling and Creative Writing, Forensic Science and True Crime, Philosophy, Journalism and Podcasting, Media Production, Audio, Music Technology and Music Production
