FAFSA

Basic Eligibility Criteria

Basic eligibility requirements are that you must

TASFA

The Texas Application for State Financial Aid (TASFA) is used to collect information to help determine eligibility for state financial aid programs that are administered by institutions of higher education in the state of Texas. Students that are classified as a Texas Resident who cannot apply for federal financial aid using the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) are encouraged to complete the TASFA. To review the FAFSA filing requirements, visit studentaid.gov or visit the financial aid office at the institution you plan to attend.

The Texas state priority deadline for many institutions of higher education is January 15, 2023 for the 2023-24 award year. It is recommended that applicants complete and submit this application and any other required documentation to the financial aid office prior to the state priority deadline date.

Attention

The 2023-2024 Online TASFA is not yet available. To ensure students can maximize financial aid funding, we are encouraging students to complete the paper TASFA starting Oct. 1, 2022. Please follow up with the college you plan to attend to confirm the application process and to determine if additional documentation will be needed.

TSIA 2

TSIA2

An updated TSIA exam (TSIA2) launched on January 11, 2021. The TSIA2 will take place of the current TSIA exam. If you meet the college readiness benchmarks with the previous version of the TSIA exam, the scores will be valid for 5 years from the date that you took the exam. The same will be the case for the TSIA2 exam. The TSIA2 will differ from the TSIA by having reading and writing combined into one section which will be called the English Language Arts Reading (ELAR) section. There will still be a Mathematics section for the exam. The TSIA2 still requires the mandatory Pre-Assessment Activity (PAA) before completing the TSIA2 exam (link below).

The updated assessment includes the following enhancements:

TSI PRE-ASSESSMENT ACTIVITY (PAA)

The TSIA2 Pre-Assessment will discuss the content and importance of the TSI Assessment, exemptions, provide sample questions, testing details and support, and more. McLennan Community College is required by Rule §4.55.b of the Texas Administration Code to document your participation in the TSIA2 Pre- Assessment prior to taking the TSIA2 exam.

Scholarships

ETS focuses on aiding our students by promoting scholarships that help them towards their post-secondary education. We promote various scholarships that range from local, state, and national Scholarships. Our students have won various scholarships such as the LULAC National Scholarship, Jefferson Alumni Scholarship, US.Dream Scholarship, EPISD Scholarship, Hispanic National Scholarship, TALAS Scholarship, UTEP Academic Scholarships, EPCC Scholarships, and various other scholarships. We help our students through the scholarship process to ensure that they send out the best application.

Summer Dual Credit Classes

The Dual Credit Program at EPCC offers fundamental core courses to qualified high school students. The college course is a replacement rather than an addition as students take just one class, the college course, and earn both high school and college credit. The courses are taught by instructors credentialed by EPCC. One of the goals of the program is to provide a positive collegiate learning experience for participating high school students. Courses we have offered are EDUC 1300, SPEECH 1321, PSYC 2305, ENGL 1301, HIST 1301, GOVT 2305 and 2306, and PHIL 1301.
