The Digital and Learning Resources department team sponsors elementary campuses with Lego Spike Prime robotic kits. We also offer a curriculum which campus sponsors use to get their students immersed in the language of coding.
ย A robotics competition will be held in the Spring where teams will display the programming skills they learned while an active member of their campus robotics club. This year's challenge is about saving the coral reefs and the underwater sea life that depends so much on it. The challenge is called, "Operation Atlantis" and full details can be found in the Robotics Microsoft Team that is accessible to all sponsors.ย
If you'd like to become a robotics club sponsor at your school, contact your campus administration have them email our elementary robotics lead, Ms. Julie Rivas at jlrivas@episd.org.
What is Lego Spike Prime?
LEGO SPIKE PRIME is a STEAM classroom resource designed to engage students and prepare them for a 21st Century workforce by providing exciting and multi-sensory learning experiences in coding.
Students will need to download the Lego Spike Prime app from Self-Service (the teacher can too!) to be able to program and view the build sequence for some of these activities.
You can learn more about Lego Spike Prime kits and lessons at the following website - https://education.lego.com/en-us/lessons?products=SPIKE%E2%84%A2+Prime+Setย
