Monthly Study Days: Ora et Labora

Inspired by the monastic motto, "Pray and Work," join us for a monthly study program held at the Church of the Redeemer, a short walk from the BC main campus in Chestnut Hill. Enjoy snacks, tea, and coffee while you study, starting at 1pm. Then, take a break to reflect and pray at 5pm Evensong, followed by a homemade dinner at 6pm. Afterwards, stay until 8pm for more studying or just hang out.

Throughout the year, we also organize board game nights on campus, outings to Boston to visit historic churches and explore the city, and more!

Bake Sale Fundraisers

Whether you enjoy baking or want to sharpen your sales skills, we meet at the Redeemer to bake sweet treats and sell them at the church and on campus in support of local good causes, such as Boston Health Care for the Homeless.

Volunteer at FUEL Food Ministry

We volunteer with Church of the Redeemer's FUEL Ministry, which provides food to local K-12 students in need. Volunteer activities include weekly food shopping, unloading and shelving, packing bags on Tuesdays and Wednesday mornings, and delivering bags to schools and after-school programs.

The Reverend Daniel Bell

Dan+ is an Episcopal priest and higher education chaplain. He has served as an Affiliate Campus Minister at Boston College since the fall of 2023. He is also an Associate University Chaplain and the Director of Protestant Life at Tufts University, where he has served since 2016. Dan+ has also offered his ministry and leadership in several parishes in the Boston area. He is currently the Priest Associate at the Church of the Redeemer in Chestnut Hill.

Dan+ attended Yale Divinity School where he earned a M.A. in Religion while studying church history, followed by a M.Div. along with his Anglican formation at Berkeley Divinity School, the Episcopal seminary at Yale. He received his B.A. from Gordon College, where he studied history, biblical studies, and theology. As an undergraduate, He was active in campus ministries and student government, and had opportunities to study in Italy, Greece, and England. Dan+ lives in Arlington, MA, and, last but not least, he is a lifelong Trekkie!

Kristen Filipic

Kristen has served as our Lay Affiliate Campus Minister since the fall of 2025. However, her time with us began before then as one of our loving cooks who provides meals during reading period and finals at Study Days at the Redeemer. Kristen grew up in Central Ohio and attended Kenyon College studying philosophy, classics, and the Integrated Program in Humane Studies while her parents wondered about employability.  

After some stern lectures from her college advisor about the realities of the academic job market, she went off to the Jesuit Volunteer Corps after graduation and then moved to Chicago to the last refuge of liberal arts majors – law school. She now fights housing discrimination while freelance writing, knitting, and enjoying living in a quirky Boston neighborhood. After spending many years trying to create her own Catholic-Protestant blend, she realized that being an Episcopalian is a lot simpler!
